Infiniti range extender coming to Geneva

Infiniti reveals details on the next generation of hybrid, full details at the Geneva motor show

Infiniti range extender coming to Geneva

Another early reveal for the 6 March Geneva motor show is the latest hybrid concept from Infiniti. The currently name-less concept is the company’s first car to be fitted with range-extender drivetrain, and to maximise packaging, weight distribution and handling capabilities, it will be mid-mounded.

The main aim of the concept will be to show off the new design direction for the prestige car maker, but more importantly to experiment with future options for hybrid technology, moving on from the more conventional system current fitted to the M35h.

Maximising the use of lightweight materials to compliment the drivetrain should provide an exciting and extremely refined drive, and the small capacity petrol engine is programmed to cut in only when the on-board battery starts to run low.

No specific details have been released relating to emissions, but Infiniti claims that it will 'combine extreme, low emission open-road performance with zero emission operation in urban situations.'
