TVR model range returns - for £100K each

The TVR Chimaera, Cerbera, Sagaris, Griffith and Tuscan return with 6.2-litre V8 power - and a £100K price-tag

Reborn TVRs will set you back nigh-on £100,000. TVR Power, who’s resuming production of Blackpool’s finest sports cars under licence, will offer a full range of products, with all of the shapes instantly recognisable. Griffith, Chimaera, Cerbera, Tuscan and Sagaris can all be bought brand new, with a 6.2-litre Chevrolet LS V8 engine under their front bonnets providing 426bhp and 420lb ft of torque. There’s revamped interiors, too, complete with new internal electronics to operate the doors and windows. Phew… There’s a five-speed manual gearbox and a ‘chassis overhaul’, with uprated dampers, a reinforced anti-roll bar and a differential ratio which allows 180mph-plus top speeds. It all sounds great – updated mechanicals and electrics in some classic TVR shapes – but a £99,600 price tag will prove a real barrier to sales. Similar money can buy a variety of serious performance metal – BMW M3 GTS, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Jaguar XKR-S, Aston Martin Vantage S…  We could go on. The more financially attractive alternative is to take a second-hand model to TVR Power, with upgrades ranging from £12,000 for the LS engine upgrade to £36,000 for the full works, including a hand sanding and repainting of the entire body and new carpeting and leather trimming for the interior. It’s great to have TVRs back on sale, but they look a more niche choice than ever.
