BMW releases prices and spec details of its updated for 2012 X1 crossover, with a new 215bhp range-topper
BMW has revealed its facelifted X1 crossover. The updates include revised exterior styling, a new all-diesel range of engines and new Sport and xLine trims.
As far as styling changes go, the X1 features new LED headlights, a lower front bumper and new colour and alloy wheel choices.
All of the engines in the 2012 X1 are 2-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel units, available in various states of tune. The base model in the X1 range is the rear-wheel drive sDrive18d, which puts out 141bhp and 236lb ft, while the flagship xDrive25d features four-wheel drive and a 215bhp and 354lb ft tune of the 2-litre. This is enough to hustle it from 0-62mph in 6.8sec and onto a 142mph top speed. The car’s performance is coupled with decent economy, with a claimed 51.4mpg and 145g/km CO2 emissions.
The new Sport and xLine models sit between the entry-level SE and range-topping M-Sport specification, both featuring styling modifications inside and out. The Sport features a dark chrome exhaust, sports steering wheel and 17in wheels, whie the xLine boasts 18in alloys and features chrome finishes on the exhaust and front grille.
Prices for the 2012 BMW X1 start at £24,660 for the sDrive18d and rise to £31,860 for the xDrive25d.
