Actually the Toyota has quite a bit in common with the Ducati, being red, huge fun and at times scary! The latter is especially true at the moment, since the set of nice, new, sticky Yokohamas that were due to go on have not yet been fitted (it should happen this week). Just keeping it on the island has been quite a feat! Indeed, I'm amazed the Bridgestones that it's wearing are still classed as legal... though it's touch and go.
The MR2 really isn't happy with them like this. The combination of light weight and mid-mounted engine always promises to be 'entertaining' when a goodly layer of water is spread over the tarmac; remove from that equation the grooved bits from the tyres and... time to hone those driving skills. My advice to fellow MR2ers: 'Replace tyres sooner rather than later!'
Tyres aside, the MR2 has performed faultlessly of late, yet again proving its ability as a multi-talented everyday-usable roadster (luggage capacity aside - well, a full-face lid and tyre gauge fit in the boot for track days; what more do I need?). Everything considered, it's a very nice place to be. All I have to do now is keep the keys hidden from Rog and the rest of the crew (except Harry, who has a blind spot when it comes to products from the Orient). I might be a biker, but I'm not completely mad.
