The manual gearchange is the weak link in the IS, a problem compounded by it occasionally hopping out of fourth, sometimes when you’ve gone over a bump. As the car was booked into Lexus Milton Keynes as part of a recall for a possible front seatbelt fault, we asked for the gearbox to be looked at too.
Predictably, the jumping-out-of-gear fault couldn’t be found, but as the shift remains rubbish we may well return. Still, the standard of service was the real Lexus deal, including a bottle of bubbly for the inconvenience of the recall and fuel to cover us to and from the dealer. The JD Power survey victories seem well deserved.
