The workings of the STI’s central locking and alarm system are a mystery to rival the Da Vinci Code. They even have their own dedicated booklet, running to a Dan Brown-style 18 pages long. It’s completely unpickupable.
At the risk of spoiling the thrill for those of you still trying to crack the riddle of opening the passenger doors, it’s all about the timing of the second press of the plipper button. Get it wrong and your passengers ain’t getting in. It’s a cause of immense frustration to those not in on the secret, though strangely pleasing once you know. But did it really have to be this complicated?
