Lexus IS-F

A loose rear end indicated that replacement tyres were needed on our Lexus. Impressive that they lasted as long as they did...

Lexus IS-F

I’d been waiting for this day. Not waiting in the hanging-on-with-baited-breath sense, more along the lines of curious anticipation. Anyway, last week something fell off the Lexus. On closer inspection it turned out to be the rubber cover for the foot-operated parking brake. It pushed back on in five seconds flat.

I think it would be a bit of a leap to call this the moment the IS-F developed a quality wobble, because despite the potentially trim-loosening ride and the occasional presence of a pair of rather-handy-at-trim-loosening children in the back, the trim remains extremely un-loosened.

The same can’t be said of the Lexus’s back end, which is currently looser than a Tesco trolley due to the deteriorating rear Bridgestones. I have to say I’m amazed the canvas isn’t poking through after 18,000 miles of managing 417bhp, though. I’m planning to bid them a smoky adieu before replacing them with the other recommended OE tyre, Michelin’s Pilot Sport.
