Cue rabid flag-waving and three choruses of Land of Hope and Glory? Erm, perhaps not just yet. I'm afraid the ZT-T has left one or two blots in its copybook this month (if I study them very closely I can see a policeman's helmet - or is it a Dalek? - and an Alsatian riding a bicycle).
First there's the sticking throttle, mentioned last month. Despite the attentions of Marshalls MG Rover of Cambridge, it's still occasionally sticking open, even when you take your foot clean off the accelerator. Jethro reckons it's almost as good as cruise control, but I'm not wholly convinced, and I think another unscheduled visit to Marshalls is required, especially since the first oil change service isn't due till 15,000 miles.
In fact at the rate I'm currently topping up with Castrol, there won't be much original oil to replace. I've just added a second litre, and word has reached me that the problem is not altogether unknown to MG Rover. Two litres in 7000 miles needn't be catastrophic - unless of course the owner is one of those people who doesn't check their oil regularly (like 95 per cent of the motoring population).
I was going to mention the headlights steaming up, too, but frankly there's enough things to worry about in the world already. And besides, I don't want you to get the idea that I've gone off the MG. I still think it's terrific - love the way it grips, the way it goes and most of all the way it looks. And I'm not alone. Have you seen the new Bentley?
