Subaru Impreza STi

The STi's had a relatively quiet few weeks, thanks in part to it being overdue for its 10,000-mile service, but mainly down to the number of other cars we've had to test.

The ever-helpful service department at Westaway Motors did a while-you-wait job on the STi, completing the 10K service in just over an hour. At ΂£145.19 it wasn't cheap - though less than Chee's bill for the Celica's 10K check - but at least now that Subaru has increased the service intervals by 2500 miles the wallet-bashing isn't quite so frequent.

Westaway's technicians noted that the front tyres are beginning to show significant signs of wear on the outside edges of the tread. Given the way it gets driven I'm not altogether surprised, but they checked and adjusted the steering alignment just to be sure there wasn't a problem.

As you'll have spotted in our Driven section, I've also, at long last, been able to drive a signed-off STi fitted with Prodrive's much-anticipated Performance Package. All of which means that by the end of next month I'm hoping BF02 OWP will be bristling with Prodrive goodies, which in turn means I'll have to eke out the last few millimetres of tread on the current front tyres before they are swapped for a set of 18in alloys and Pirelli PZeros.

According to Subaru there are the best part of 100 other STi owners waiting for the Prodrive Performance Package. If you're one of them please do let me know what you think of it via our dedicated email - fastfleet@evo.co.uk
