Last month's evoactive trackday at Snetterton proved to be the perfect time to do this. Being a bit of a trackday novice, I was daunted by the fact that the pits had some pretty fast and capable looking cars lined up. By comparison the Cup was conspicuously standard-looking and was surely going to get in everyone's way.
After checking the tyre pressures and oil level, and fitting the tow hook, the Clio and I ventured onto the Norfolk track. With confidence growing I soon began to find out just how great a trackday car the Cup really is. In fact we were able to keep up with potentially faster and more track-orientated cars. Okay, Snetterton has a long, fast straight and the Cup struggled against the likes of Ferraris and other larger-engined cars, but with its torquey motor and poise through the corners I was amazed just how easy it was to keep up. At some points others were even holding us back!
At the end of the sessions I expected some serious wear on the tyres and the brakes but on inspection the effects of the day, if any, were unnoticeable. Cheap as chips!
