Suzuki Cappuccino

So, as previewed last month, the pint-sized triple failed to start instantly one morning and when eventually coaxed into life seemed curiously breathless. Nothing obvious was amiss, so I took the Suzuki to TW Motor Inc by Kew Bridge. Some ignition problems were suspected but even new plugs failed to restore the engine's perkiness. So I stupidly volunteered to take the Cappo for a test run. A hundred yards down the road, the motor cut out suddenly and terminally.

So I stupidly volunteered to take the Cappo for a test run. A hundred yards down the road, the motor cut out suddenly and terminally.

It turns out the cam belt had broken and the odd behaviour beforehand was probably down to errant timing after the belt had slipped minutely. The resulting bill for ΂£956.83 included replacing 12 bent valves - thankfully the cylinder head and pistons survived. By my standards any bill less than a 'bag of sand' (us Londoners always talk in rhyming slang) is a miracle, but then again, the Suzuki is probably only worth about ΂£4K. Ironically, I was vaguely aware that a cam belt change was due at 60,000 miles. My Cappo is 11-years-old and in all likelihood had never had the belt changed.

So the Curse Of The Yu-mobile lives on. TW Motor Inc put it back together in record time and the little sports car is back terrorising the commuter routes again, nippier than ever.
