When the very nice man from the RAC arrived he diagnosed a dead battery on the remote and managed to coax enough life back into the tiny battery cell using a huge pair of jump leads to get the car started and get me home to my spare key.
I also managed to lose the detachable front panel from the Alpine stereo. A replacement unit set me back £160. I must be more careful in future.
