RIP Skyline
Nissan marks the end of line with limited edition model

Nissan's legendary Skyline GT-R will finish production in its current form in August 2002. The Japanese giant will move away from the saloon-on-steroids look for the next GT-R and for many enthusiasts the limited- edition R34 GT-R Nür (pictured) will be the last of the real Skylines.

Tighter emissions legislation in Japan means the straight-six RB26 engine with its iron block, famed for its tuning potential, is no longer a viable production option. The Nür edition features the new steel turbos and stronger crankshaft and main bearings from the N1 - a lighter Japanese version sold as a basis for racing - which should mean outputs of well over 450bhp are easily attainable.

Other distinguishing features include gold cam covers, a gold chassis plaque and a 300km/h speedo. The Nür pack can be added to either V-Spec II or M-Spec GT-Rs and a total of 1000 will be built.
