Daihatsu Charade rally winner

How’s this for cheap motorsport: David and Tony Mayo recently won the 6635-mile Mongol Rally from London to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia in a 16-year-old Daihatsu Charade that cost them £150 on eBay. The Charade complied wholeheartedly with the rally’s criteria of an engine size of less than 1-litre and a car that is ‘highly unsuitable’ for the journey.
