Subaru has issued a teaser shot of its eagerly-awaited new Impreza WRX STI which debuts at the Tokyo Motor Show next month on 24 October.

Enough detail can be gleaned from the dark image to show a substantially different vehicle from the existing model.

Subaru's team are remaining tight-lipped about technical details, however.
