Porsche’s new 911 GT2 has lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in an astonishing 7min 33sec in the hands of Horst von Saurma, chief road tester at Germany’s Sport Auto magazine. The time is just one second slower than von Saurma recorded for the Carrera GT.
Porsche, on the other hand, claims that the GT2 is five seconds a lap faster than the CGT (see evo 111), preferring Walter Röhrl’s slightly faster 7min 32sec time in the flagship 911 and a correspondingly slower time for the Carrera GT. Confusing stuff, but whichever set of figures you choose to look at, the GT2 is still bloody quick.
