Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe

Rolls-Royce will unveil its new Phantom Coupe at Geneva next month

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars will unveil its new Phantom Coupé at the 78th International Geneva Motor Show. This is the third new model from Rolls-Royce since BMW Group became custodian of the marque in 1998.

A number of subtle but significant suspension and transmission mods have made the vehicle noticeably more dynamic than the Phantom and Phantom Drophead Coupé, whilst still offering exceptional comfort levels. Stiffer rear dampers, revised spring rates, plus a thicker anti-roll bar reduce body roll and a new gearbox programme delays gearchanges to enhance acceleration, especially during kickdown.

Power is provided by the Phantom’s 6.75-litre V12, producing 453bhp and a trouser-bulging 720 Nm of torque. The unit features direct fuel injection with variable valve lift and timing and delivers 75 per cent of its maximum power at just 1000 rpm, giving the smooth, utterly unstressed performance.

Rear-hinged coach doors enable a more graceful passenger entry and exit and contribute to the body’s torsional rigidity, by allowing an uninterrupted A-pillar. For ease of operation, the doors can be closed at the touch of a button, housed inside the front quarterlight. At the rear is a spacious picnic boot. A split tail compartment opens in two parts and gives access to 395 litres of space. The lower tailgate also provides a comfortable seating platform for two adults when lowered, where passengers can have tea and scones.

The Rolls-Royce stand number is 6340. It's located in Hall 6.

Production of the new car will start at this summer at Goodwood.
