Spyker C8 GT2: Special edition Spyker

Spyker has shown off its GT2 racer for the road

Meet the C8 Laviolette LM85, a road-legal version of the Netherlands sports car manufacturer’s Le Mans car.

Just 24 will be made, and both right and left hand drive versions will be produced. It boasts an aluminium rear wheel drive chassis, a Drexler limited slip diff and a six-speed Getrag manual transmission. Power comes courtesy of Audi’s all-aluminium 4.2-litre V8, with an ample 400bhp on tap.

On the outside, styling echoes the C8 GT2R, with orange and gunmetal livery, a carbon fibre rear spoiler and black powder coated alloys. Buyers can select an optional Le Mans sticker set to add to the authentic race-car looks, while there’s a customized LM85 car cover to keep the C8 tucked up and cosy.

The interior is made up black leather and alcantara, with liberal use of orange stitching to match the wild exterior. And that’s not all. Every LM85 buyer also becomes the proud owner of a special Spyker Chronoswiss 24 hour Pilot Watch with orange crocodile strap. Their car’s serial number is engraved on the case of the watch, and the LM85’s dials and switches can be specified to match their timepiece.

C8 LM85 buyers are also offered an exclusive Spyker VIP Hospitality weekend at the 2009 Le Mans 24 hour race.

Production starts this quarter, and the first two to roll off the line will be displayed in Saudi Arabia at the Jeddah Motor Show (27 to 30 October 2008) and Los Angeles Auto Show (19 to 30 November 2008).
