Fancy an all-new Golf? Volkswagen's sixth generation hatchback is available to order now - with prices starting at £13,150 for an entry level three-door S with a 1.4-litre 79bhp power plant, which represents an £870 rise over the current MkV Golf. The new range tops out for the moment at £20,980 for a 138bhp 2-litre TDI GT five-door equipped with VW's six-speed DSG gearbox.
The Golf will hit the UK with three trim levels - S, SE and GT - and six engines. There's four petrols: the entry 1.4 will be joined by a 1.6-litre 101bhp unit, as well as the brand's 1.4-litre TSI engine in 120 and 158bhp trims. Diesel-wise, you can choose a 2-litre TDI with either 108 or 138bhp guise.
That's as hot as at gets for now, but the new 207bhp GTI - previewed at Paris - is due in 2009 while there's a sporty diesel, the GTD, and a new R-version to follow.
