The Audi RS family is growing at speed. After the highly acclaimed RS4 saloon and Avant, we got the supercar-slaying RS6 (one of which is on the evo Fast Fleet). Now the company's iconic coupe is getting the same treatment, with the Audi TT RS getting its world premiere at the Geneva motor show.
Firm details are thin on the ground at the moment but Audi has been to keen to crank up the excitement - well over 300bhp is promised and a 0-62mph sprint that's 'nowhere hear five seconds’. All of the shove comes courtesy of a turbocharged 2.5-litre petrol engine, with five cylinders and direct injection. Hopes for a junior Audi R8 will be quelled a little by the limited 155mph top speed, but the tweaked looks ramp the TT up to the muscular sports car that many have always craved.
Quattro all-wheel drive features, while Audi claims the TT RS boasts a sophisticated chassis, stupendous brakes and an unrivalled sound. There are no specific details to back any of that up yet but we look forward to finding out how close the RS gets to them. And unlike the leviathan RS6, the TT's mass of aluminium in its structure ensures this will be a more lithe interpretation of the RS badge.
