Fiat 500C priced

Cabriolet version of the retro Fiat 500 to command an extra £3K over hatch

Fiat 500C

Fiat has priced its convertible 500. The 500C was unveiled at the Geneva motor show in early March, and follows in the footsteps of its highly regarded hard top sibling.

It gets the same engines as the hatch – 69bhp 1.2 and 100bhp 1.4 petrols, and 75bhp 1.3 Multijet diesel – and two spec levels, Pop and Lounge. Prices range from £11,300 for a 1.2 Pop to £14,100 for a 1.3 Lounge. That means you're paying over three grand extra for the retro rollaway soft top that harks back to Fiat 500s of old. You do get the option of two new colours, however. Joining the options list is Tech House Grey and RaggaMuffin Red - both great names.

The 500C goes on sale in the summer, and – perhaps surprisingly – hits the UK before any other market, including Fiat’s Italian homeland. It is testament to our love for cabriolets, something that is explored a bit further in issue 130 of evo Magazine, on sale April 1.
