Special F1 edition John Cooper Works hot hatch celebrates the Mini's 50th birthday

Mini John Cooper Works F1

The Mini is 50 this year, and to celebrate there will be a bunch of special edition BMW Minis launched later this month.

They will be unveiled at Mini United, an event held at Silverstone on May 22-24, with the most interesting set to be a limited version of the John Cooper Works hot hatch that we’re running on the evo Fast Fleet.

Labeled the F1 edition, its unveil will also coincide with the 50 years that have passed since John Cooper built his first grand prix car. The car is set to get British Racing Green paint, a splattering of F1 badges, black bonnet stripes and white mirrors and roof. Performance will likely be unchanged from the regular (and feisty enough) 208bhp JCW.

Keep your eyes on evo.co.uk for more information, as we’ll be at Mini United reporting on the events and new special editions.
