Buyers of the all-new Mazda 3 MPS can expect extra attention. Across the dealer network, 89 outlets have been appointed as specialists for the turbocharged hot hatch. Each will have an MPS branded area of the showroom, two dedicated members of staff and, handily, an MPS demonstrator.

The MPS features a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 256bhp sending it to 60mph in a rather brisk 6.1sec. The £21,500 hatchback is identified by its gaping new grille and bonnet-mounted air scoop. It’s on sale from October 1st and, in Issue 137, we pit it against evo’s Mountune fettled Focus ST.
