The Audi A1 is coming. The four-ringed rival to the Mini Cooper is set to be unveiled at the 2010 Geneva motor show in March, and Audi has revealed a first teaser image to give us a hint of what to expect.
It’s not your usual zoomed-in-detail or car-under-blanket type teaser, though. Instead some ‘youths’ have sprayed a graffiti version of the A1 onto an unsuspecting wall and, to encourage their behaviour, Audi’s photographed and videoed it.
So what does it tell us about the car? Well, it’s aimed at the kids. It’s Audi’s attempt to get a more youthful audience into its cars, so homing in on that favourite hobby of today’s youth, damaging property, seems like a great idea. Or not.
Nevertheless, it does show that the car will get Audi’s signature grille up front, LED daytime-running lights and suitably large alloys. The A1 is set to boast a customisation scheme in the same ilk as the modern-day Minis, allowing the circa-£13K start price to head north as you choose wheels, interior trim and exterior colour schemes.
If the production car carries the presence and aggression sported by its graffiti illustration, the A1 could be a very cool thing indeed. Keep your eyes on evo.co.uk for the latest on Audi’s baby hot hatch.
