Mercedes-Benz has revealed it's new generation C-Class. The new four-door saloon and five-door estate launches in March 2011 and will go head-to-head with class stalwarts the BMW's 3-series and Audi A4.
22,823 C-Classes were registered in the UK last year - the highest figure the model has achieved.
The new C-Class will be available in the UK in either SE, Elegance or Sport specification with prices starting at £25,515 for the C180 SE saloon with a 154bhp 1.8-litre BlueEFFICIENCY engine, rising to £34,480 for the range topping C250 CDI estate with a 201bhp 2.1-litre BlueEFFICIENCY engine.
Of more interest to Evo readers is the inevitable AMG version, which is likely to use AMG's epic 6.2-litre V8 and will be available as a saloon and estate as well as in two-door form, with Mercedes’ all-new C-Class Coupe due soon.
Indeed, insiders at Mercedes tell us that the coupe AMG version is one of the best cars they've ever made. A true M3 rival, at last? Expect to see these high performance models in the summer of 2011.
Tech features on the new C-Class include engines that are each more powerful and more efficient than the outgoing model, internet access via a data enabled mobile phone, plus a raft of safety features including a pedestrian friendly Active Bonnet, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and a whole bunch of others that Start With A Capital Letter.
