Saab 9-5 SportWagon revealed

Saab's all new 9-5 gets the estate treatment, with stylish new SportWagon. At Geneva 2011

Saab 9-5 SportWagon

Saab has unveiled its all-new 9-5 SportWagon. An estate version of its brand new (and quite good) 9-5, it enters a tough market, taking on the BMW 5-series Touring and Audi A6 Avant with talk of ‘sporty character’ and ‘dynamic visual appeal’. It certainly looks more sculptured than its talented German foes. Powering the 9-5 SportWagon is the same engine range as the saloon, with 158bhp and 187bhp 2-litre turbodiesel options, and petrol engines ranging from a 178bhp 1.6 turbo to the range-topping 296bhp 2.8-litre V6 turbo, which gets four-wheel drive. Prices have not yet been released, but expect them to be £1500 higher (approx) than an equivalent Saab 9-5 saloon. That means they’ll range from around £28,500 for an entry-level diesel to £40,000 for that top-of-the-range V6. The Saab 9-5 SportWagon gets its full reveal at the 2011 Geneva motor show in March, with order books opening around the same time and UK deliveries from September.
