Honda has revealed more details of its new Civic Ti. It’s a special edition of the hatchback, inspired by the similarly shaped British Touring Car competitor entered by the official Honda team.
Excitement for a replacement for the recently departed Civic Type-R should be quelled, though; this is a predominantly cosmetic job. There’s a new motorsport-inspired bodykit, pearl white paint and black 17in Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 alloy wheels. It all looks pretty good, and breathes extra life into the Civic in the later years of its production life.
Inside, there’s a new touch-screen Pioneer media system, which combines sat-nav, Bluetooth phone connectivity and entertainment, with USB, MP3 and iPod compatibility. There’s also an ‘Eco Graph’, which uses the sat-nav’s GPS to gauge how economically you’re driving to provide a score out of ten. If you input your average miles-per-gallon and the local petrol prices, you can also pick your navigation route based on how much it will cost.
The Civic Ti is available as a five-door and with two engine choices, both VTEC petrols. You can pick the 99bhp/94lb ft/48mpg 1.4-litre or 138bhp/128lb ft/42.8mpg 1.8-litre, the latter being the Civic’s best-selling engine.
Prices range from £15,995 for the 1.4 to £16,995 for the 1.8. 500 Civic Tis will be made, 300 of them 1.8s, 200 1.4s. Over 100 have already been sold, and demand for the car is high. Come back to evo.co.uk next week for a review of the Honda Civic Ti 1.8 VTEC.
