The first official pictures of the new BMW M5 have been revealed. The fifth-generation version of the firm’s all-conquering sports saloon is still officially a concept, but the styling will barely change between the car you see here and the showroom, some different wheels likely to be the most visual switch.
Sitting at the front and driving the rear wheels will be a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine boasting north of 560bhp (no firm figure has yet been revealed). It’s the first time forced induction has been used on an M5, but we’re promised a high-revving experience alongside the added flexibility and fuel economy benefits brought about by modern turbo technology.
The BMW Concept M5 will be unveiled at the 2011 Shanghai motor show this month, and will go in sale in the Autumn, battling the Mercedes E63 AMG, Jaguar XFR et al with a circa £65,000 price tag.
