Tokyo show: Nismo Nissan Leaf

As well as a tuned Juke, Nissan unveils a Nismo performance Leaf electric car, with more power and less weight

Nismo Nissan Leaf

Nissan has unveiled another Nismo concept to join its uprated Juke at the Tokyo motor show – a performance version of its Leaf electric car.

Like the Juke Concept, the Nismo Leaf sports a new performance orientated body kit and 18in alloy wheels. It’s also reported that the car will receive a 10 per cent gain in power over the standard car's 108bhp/206lb ft outputs, helping to enhance the instant torque provided by its electric motor. The extra power may sound like a good idea, but it has not yet been announced how this modification will affect the car’s circa-100-mile range.

To deal with the extra power it is likely that the car will benefit from various chassis and suspension modifications – improving both ride and handling, whilst also reducing weight compared to a regular Leaf.

Both cars are expected to go on sale late next year, heralding a wider range of Nismo performance Nissans.
