New Fiat Panda prices

Fiat has priced its new Panda supermini range, with the cheapest kicking off below £9000

Fiat has announced prices for its all-new Panda. As cheap, sensible cars go, it’s one of the most fun, so the fact we have to wait for a successor to the mighty Panda 100HP hot hatch doesn’t stop it being a bit of an evo favourite. There are three engine choices, with two petrols – a 68bhp 1.2-litre and the trick two-cylinder, 84bhp 875cc TwinAir – and a 74bhp 1.3-litre turbodiesel. You’ve a choice of three trim levels, too. Pop includes the basics (electric windows, central locking, power steering, four airbags), Easy adds air conditioning, remote locking and an upgraded stereo while Lounge brings with it heated electric mirrors, 15in alloy wheels and front fog lights. Much of Fiat’s talk surrounds safety, with up to six airbags available as well as a low-speed ‘collision mitigation’ system, which applies emergency braking when speeds are below 19mph if the car senses an impending front-end accident. It helps keep the Panda competitive in class, with Volkswagen’s Up city car offering similar kit. Prices start at £8900 for a 1.2-engined Pop, rising to £12,250 for a diesel-powered Lounge. The innovative turbocharged TwinAir engine is available from £10,750 (in Easy trim). Read our review of the new Fiat Panda here
