Audi reveals its most powerful TT Coupe yet. Meet the 355bhp TT RS Plus

Audi TT RS Plus

Audi has pulled the wraps off its feistiest TT yet. The TT RS Plus is – as you’d expect – the existing RS with the wick turned up.

Increased turbocharger boost and a revised inlet manifold see the RS’s 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine produce 355bhp and 343lb ft of torque, respective rises of 20bhp and 11lb ft. Quattro all-wheel drive remains, as does the standard six-speed manual gearbox.

Audi’s seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission is still an option, and comes with a launch control facility. This helps the TT RS Plus Coupe complete 0-62mph in a flying 4.1sec (the Roadster requiring an extra 0.1sec). That’s as quick as Audi’s R8 supercar. The top speed also rises from the RS’s electronically limited 155mph to 174mph.

Mechanical changes are otherwise limited to a slightly firmer suspension setup, while an adaptive damping system lies on the options list. The brakes are untouched while there’s new red-trimmed 19in alloy wheels, the same set debuted on the Audi RS3 Sportback.

Other styling tweaks include a redesigned rear spoiler, anthracite and aluminum detailing, and bigger, black-trimmed exhaust tailpipes.

Audi UK hasn’t confirmed any sales information yet, but the TT RS Plus goes on sale in Germany in April, priced from 60,650 euros (around £51,000) for a manual Coupe and rising to 65,650 euros (£55K) for an S-tronic-equipped Roadster. That makes it around £5000 pricier than the standard, 335bhp TT RS.

The Audi TT RS Plus will be revealed next alongside the all-new A3 and the RS4 Avant at the 2012 Geneva motor show. Keep your eyes on evo.co.uk for all the latest show news and live reports.
