Peugeot's Road-racer

The 407 Silhouette is an indication of just how badly Peugeot wants to regain its reputation for driving dynamics. This mid-engined concept is designed to raise interest in the imminent 407 mid-range saloon and wagon. It's powered by a longitudinally-mounted 320bhp V6 driving a six-speed sequential transmission. The suspension can be lowered by 40mm for track use.

The Silhouette is actually built around a proper tubular spaceframe and clad in carbonfibre bodywork. The most intriguing feature is an LCD screen built into the steering wheel, which displays the 'optimum' racing lines for circuit use - the driver can overlay his laps and see where he can improve.
