Cameras on motorways have until now been restricted to roadworks or, as on the M25, working in heavy traffic. That changes soon when the M4 gets a rash of the devices. There has been both an outcry (from the Conservative Party and the RAC Foundation) and acclamation (from Labour and the Wiltshire Safety Camera Partnership).

A go-slow protest drive was organised and run on 30th April to demonstrate the motorists' views on motorway camera placements. More protests are planned.
