Tuner Shootout

Donington race circuit will host the first ever UK-based Tuner GP on September 17. It's an opportunity for tuning companies to put hard figures to their big bhp claims and follows a successful formula pioneered at the Hockenheim GP circuit in Germany.

Titled The Milltek Sport UK Tuner GP, in association with Vauxhall VXR, it will involve three disciplines and numerous classes, ensuring the attendance of a broad range of modified cars.

The main challenge is simply a lap-time shoot-out of the full GP circuit and the organisers have already signed up companies as diverse as Hartge, Techart, Litchfield Imports and AMD for the competition. There's also a quarter-mile drag race including honours for fastest 0-60mph and 0-100mph times, and the Melbourne Loop will witness a spectacular drifting challenge. evo's Richard Meaden will be driving a 500bhp Subaru and we're also hoping to bring a couple of surprises along to slug it out with the mega-horsepower entries.
