New Angle On City Driving

Number one on the list of weird creations at Top Marques Monaco was the Vandenbrink Carver. This mostly-car part-bike has its 660cc four-cylinder turbo mounted between the rear wheels. The driver and passenger pod then leans from side to side between the engine and the single front wheel. The tilting motion is determined by a Dynamic Vehicle Control system that monitors the speed and angle of the front wheel before setting the optimum balance. The Carver can tilt up to an angle of 45 degrees either way, although the system is turned off and the vehicle remains upright below 6mph. The 65bhp engine is good for 0-62mph in 8.2sec. The Carver weighs 640kg and is a city-friendly 1.3 metres wide. Prices start at ΂£20,500.
