Subaru Impreza
UK Impreza dresses down

Subaru IS to launch a new Spec D variant of the Impreza STi. The D stands for 'discreet', so although it will have all the performance of the normal STi it will do without so many of the attention-grabbing body parts and will have a more luxurious atmosphere inside.

On the outside, the towering rear wing of the STi is to be replaced with the more demure item from the WRX saloon, and the Spec D's wheels will be a subtler silver or gunmetal rather than the STi's traditional gold. Full black leather trim along with a smidgen more sound-deadening should make the interior a slightly more relaxed place to be. Satnav is standard and the stereo will also be uprated.

Initially the D is limited to a run of just 300, but if they are well- received then something similar will be introduced as part of the regular range. A price has yet to be announced, but expect to see the car early in the New Year.
