The '60s Miura was a remarkable piece of packaging with a transversely mounted V12 located between the cockpit and the rear axle line: Gallardo's compact V10 most likely power unit for recreation
These pictures arrived at evo moments before we went to press, so we were unable to obtain any official information on the car. However, given the comparatively compact dimensions of the Miura, it seems likely that the show-stealing concept car is based on the Gallardo. With its aluminium spaceframe construction, the Gallardo's underpinnings are adaptable enough to accommodate a different superstructure, while its V10 engine is of modest overall dimensions.
Although oozing visual appeal, we do wonder if the Miura is a suitable showcase for a company with such a forward-looking design heritage as Lamborghini's. The GT has obviously been a huge hit for Ford, but then Ford didn't already have a supercar in its stable and needed the exposure that its retromobile could offer; Lamborghini doesn't face such a predicament. It's sure to sell, though.
