ALTHOUGH SEAT is making lots of noise about its sporting turbodiesels, when the Cupra version of the Leon is launched later this year, there will be a petrol-engined version with 240bhp+ to match the firepower of the Vauxhall Astra VXR.

PORSCHE has recalled 18,627 911s. All Carrera S and 4S models made between 20 April 2004 and 21 October 2005 will have to be examined for inadequate welding between the tailpipes and their fastening clamps. As evo has discovered, in extreme situations this can lead to the tailpipe falling off.

INDYCAR racers in the US will this year be running with a 10 per cent mix of ethanol in their fuel tanks, prior to a complete switch to the grain-based fuel for the 2007 season. The move is to 'improve racing's environmental footprint'. A further change for 2006 is that all teams will run with Honda engines.

THIS year's Le Mans 24 Hours will start an hour late, at 1700hrs, on June 17, in order to avoid a clash with televised coverage of the World Cup.
