Daventry-based BTB Exhausts already produces trackday silencer kits for Caterham R300s and R500s and is now plugging the gap with a system for the R400. The mufflers are specially designed to allow the cars to comply with noise restrictions imposed at many circuits these days. Prices start at £447 for a mild steel silencer. Lotus has come over all horological, producing its first ever chronograph wristwatch. The Type 1 Lotus Watch is the work of Barney Hatt, one of the in-house design team, and costs £175. It's available from UK dealers.

Subaru's STi division has created yet another iteration of the Impreza in Japan. The STi S204 has 320bhp, a stiffer bodyshell and revised suspension that includes more sophisticated damper location. The good news is that Subaru is planning to bring it to the UK either in the late summer or early autumn, and may commission Prodrive to squeeze out a few more bhp.
