Noble reworks and renames M14

The long-awaited new Noble will now be called the M15 and will cost around £75,000. The M14 concept, which everyone expected to reach production, was becoming 'too soft', we're told, and so was re-engineered and restyled to create something closer to a supercar.

Technically, the M15 is much as the M14 was to be, with its bi-turbo V6 mounted longitudinally and transmitting its 455bhp and 455lb ft to the rear wheels via a new bespoke gearbox. A new spaceframe chassis some 57 per cent stiffer than the M12's has been developed with the help of the hybrid Noble (a longitudinally-engined M12) that's racing in the Britcar series. The car is said to be already much quicker around a track than the mighty M400.

Although styled differently, the M15 will retain the M14's usability, with healthy boot-space front and rear, and a new interior with high levels of standard equipment. This will be vital if Noble is to succeed in its aim of seducing buyers in search of a more exclusive and even more driver-focused alternative to cars like the Ferrari F430 and Lamborghini Gallardo. Look out for pictures of the new car next month.
