Sporting estates in the mould of the Volvo P1800 ES and Lancia Beta HPE are back in vogue, with Renault now joining Audi in presenting a sports estate concept.

Called the Altica, Renault's butterfly-wing-doored offering is powered by the 175bhp, 2-litre turbodiesel from the recently launched Laguna GT dCi 175. All four seats in the Altica are fixed, with the pedal box and steering column moving to fit the driver.
As for production plans, all Renault will say is that it will be 'watching public reaction to the concept'.
