At last month's Geneva show BMW revealed more details of the most hardcore factory-built MINI to date, the two-seater GP. If you fancy one when it goes on sale in July then hurry, as of the 444 allocated to the UK market more than three-quarters already have names against them, despite a price tag in the region of £22,000.

The GP is 40kg lighter than standard thanks to the loss of its rear seat and sound deadening, and the adoption of aluminium longitudinal control arms for the rear axle. While the GP's 215bhp is only slightly up on the Cooper S Works, the car features sports suspension (including a fat rear strut brace), uprated brakes, a limited-slip diff and 18in alloys.
