BTCC rule changes for 2006

Cars of drivers who enter the Championship late, or who dip in and out, will be penalised with maximum ballast (45kg) at their first meeting or on their return. The ballast will reduce in the second and third meetings in which that car competes.

For 2006 the reverse grid system for race 3 has also been changed slightly. The number of places to be reversed will vary between six and ten but the number won't be known until immediately after the second race, when the number will be drawn from a hat by the race 2 winner. This is to try to avoid drivers purposely hanging about in tenth at the end of race 2 in order to be on pole for race 3.
