Leon roars, twice

SEAT launched the hottest version of the new Leon to date at the Madrid motor show at the end of May.

Called the FR (image), it's available with either a 197bhp turbocharged 2-litre direct-injection FSI petrol unit (as used in the Golf GTI) or a torquey (258lb ft) 2-litre turbodiesel producing 168bhp. The cars are priced at £16,995 and £17,495 respectively.

There's more Leon action to come, as the Cupra derivative is due to make its world debut at the London motor show in July, bringing with it 240bhp. This will become the top-rung Leon, as the Cupra R badge no longer exists.
