The second Tuner GP is to be staged at Snetterton on August 27. As with last year's event there are several classes - all for road-legal cars - with the aim being to post the fastest time around the circuit, as measured by onboard transponders. There's even a drag strip for 0-60mph and quarter-mile challenges, and the event will also host the finale of the UK Drift Championship. For more info visit www.tunergp.co.uk

IN A RECENT ruling at Taunton Crown Court, a truck driver was acquitted of warning other drivers of a mobile speed camera by waving his arm out of the window. The judge concluded that there was no evidence that the drivers Charles Glendinning warned were breaking the speed limit or were about to.

BUDDING motoring journalists should enter the annual Sir William Lyons Award. The winner gets a cheque for £1500, two years' probationary membership of the Guild of Motoring Writers, and the chance of work experience on leading motoring publications. E-mail chris@whizzco.
