Schumacher spins off as former DTM champion Mattias Ekström takes the victory

Reigning Champion of Champions Mattias Ekström pulled off a superb win at Wembley Stadium yesterday, beating the former F1 champ Michael Schumacher in The Race of Champions final.

Both motorsport heavyweights claimed one win each in the best-of-three final. As fans held their breath, the last heat saw Ekström build up a small lead over Schumacher who pulled out all the stops to respond. It was not to be however, as the German spun his car in a dash for the chequered flag.

The ROC was created in 1988. Drivers from different specialities use identical equipment prove themselves in knockout heats. The winners then go head-to-head in a super final and the victor is awarded 'The Champion of Champions' title.
