The car is to get a six-speed automatic transmission to go with the 184-hp (135-kW) 2.0-litre turbo diesel R-engine. A V6-motor that runs on petrol is also being considered especially for markets that still demand increased engine capacity like the US. In many markets it will also come with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Kia has been building the compact SUV Sportage since 1995. Currently the second generation of the Sportage is being sold in global markets.
