Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Our pictures prove that the facelift for the Porsche 911-range, given to the Coupe, Cabrio, Targa and Turbo recently, will soon be available for the high-performance variant, too. We snapped the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS at the challenging Nürburgring race circuit in Germany where it was testing alongside the current model which was released in Europe in October 2006 and in North America in February 2007. It will keep the "GT3 RS" side sticker and the special coloured wheels, the decorative stripe, contrast-painted outside mirrors, rear wing endplates, and roll cage. The new GT3 RS will keep its top-speed of 311 km/h and a 0-100 time of about 4 seconds using a 415-hp engine.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a high-performance sports car built by the company since 2003. It is often confused with the non-road legal racecar Porsche 911 GT3-RS of 2001 and later, which was based on the Porsche 911 GT3-R of 2000. The RS (Rennsport, or "Motorsport") is mainly a carryover of the Porsche 911 GT3, albeit it is lighter thanks to a polycarbonate rear window, carbonfibre hood and rear wing. Porsche ceramic composite brakes, which are also more heat and fade-resistant than the iron units fitted as standard, are optional. Mechanically the two cars are identical, and share the same horsepower and 3.6 litre flat-six engine.
