The Q5 will be Audi’s answer to the X3 from BMW and Mercedes’ upcoming GLK, and will be built at the Ingolstadt factory in Germany. It’s seen here with very little disguise while undergoing final tests on the roads around the German Nurburgring.
Audi has invested 300 million Euros for the production that will keep 1700 employees busy. Based on the same new platform as the A5 and upcoming A4, Audi will start the production of the Q5 in late 2008. The platform’s layout will make it possible for Audi to offer a full range of engines, meaning that the brand’s various FSI-equipped four- and six-cylinder engines, plus some high-efficiency diesel models will be offered.
