Mercedes-Benz GLC - A SUV for keen drivers? - Design

Comfortable on-road and surprisingly capable off it, but a remote driving experience

Like the interior, the exterior design also draws much from the C-Class saloon, sharing similar styling elements and model variants. The overall effect is understated and premium looking, regardless of whether you choose the standard body or more ‘sporting’ AMG-line variant.

As standard, all SE models get 17–inch alloy wheels and basic halogen headlights which can cheapen the overall effect, but most buyers go for either the Sport or AMG-line trim cars which add larger wheels, LED headlights and extra brightwork. An optional off road package is available that adds steel skid plates front and rear, for a tougher look, but no one will be mistaking the GLC for an Outback exploration vehicle.

In typical German fashion, buyers can upgrade the GLC with an optional AMG-line package, bringing with it a more aggressive body kit, yet more chrome and bigger 19-inch wheels.

On top of the standard wagon body, Mercedes-Benz also now offers a pseudo-coupe body option in the shape of the GLC coupe. You can make up your own mind about the styling, but the coupe packages the same attributes into a less practical shell.
